From the Nick and Suzanne Nichaolas Collection we have a Hopi Hand Carved Kachinas, largest measures 16''H x 6.5''W and is a young female dancer in full Hopi regalia wearing a hand painted Tableta on head, wearing ankle wraps, hand painted dance kilt and sash, turquoise necklace, wearing wrist wraps and holding sprigs of juniper in each hand, Tabletas are worn by Hopi girls during the butterfly dance, a social dance held every August. Each headdress is one-of-a-kind, incorporating various Hopi symbols and motifs in a distinctive design, and is handmade by the girl's male dance partner. The 2nd Kachina is signed on the bottom ''Mt. Sheep Stacy Telahytewa'' and is brightly painted blue wearing a white, red, and black dance kilt and sash, braided black yarn neck tie, green collar, red yarn around ears and feather accents, leather wrist and armbands, he is holding a Hopi Rattle and stick in the other hand, measures 12''H x 5''W, Stacy Talahytewa provided the family income by selling his carved dolls. He carves arms and legs separately, glues them to the body of the carved doll and adorns the heads with chicken or turkey feathers. He inspired his children who have become Kachina carvers also.
