American actress (1897–1960), at 6’2 she towered over her fellow actors and was typecast in villainous roles, earning an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of a ruthless prison matron in the 1950 film Caged. Emerson’s yellow AFTRA union P&W benefits card, one page, both sides, 6 x 4, dated June 14, 1957. Pension and Welfare benefit card is filled out by Emerson, printing her full name, Los Angeles address, birthdate, and Social Security number. Signed at the bottom “Hope J. Emerson.” She lists her cousin as the recipient of her death benefits. Written across the front of the card in red pencil is “Deceased, 4/25/60” Tiny partial hole punch to top edge, several office notations, perforated bottom edge, and portion of address crossed out, otherwise fine condition—the signature area remains clean.
