Hopalong Cassidy Radio and Original Box (Arvin, 1950).
Hopalong Cassidy Radio and Original Box (Arvin, 1950). This Hopalong Cassidy radio measures 8.5" across by 5" tall and 4" deep, with a black metal case and an embossed silver/black foil front die-cut design of Hoppy riding his horse Topper. This die-cut area is over a background of red fabric which covers the internal speaker mechanism. The front panel also has embossed depictions of covered wagons, a longhorn steer, and cactus plants. The radio is designed for electrical use, rather than batteries. The original box features cacti and covered wagons on all four sides. Hoppy and Topper appear on the front and back of the box. The black, tube-style radio is in Very Good condition, with some minor wear and light oxidation noticeable on the foil front; we aren't sure if it still plays. The box is in Good condition, with moderate wear and tear; however, the box is marked as a red model (the radio was available in red or black). The character was hugely popular in comic books and newspaper strips, as well as radio and television. In fact, Hopalong was the first real Western star on the small screen, as portrayed by William Boyd from 1935 until 1959. Just about every kid in the early 1950s idolized Hopalong Cassidy; this was the radio all Hoppy fans had to have!

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
