<B>Herbert Hoover: Inscribed and Signed </B></I><B><I>The Challenge to Liberty</B></I></B></I> (New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1934), first edition, 212 pages, blue-cloth binding with gold lettering, 12mo (7.75” x 5.5”), dust jacket (in protective sleeve). <I>The Challenge to Liberty</B></I> was the first book written by prolific author Herbert Hoover following his presidency (1929-1933). He opens his introduction “For the first time in two generations the American people are faced with the primary issue of humanity and all government-the issue of human liberty,” then proceeds to compare the American system with the philosophies of fascism, socialism, Nazism, and communism.
