American author and occasional screenwriter (1883–1965) who wrote a number of fiction and non-fiction books about life in the Midwest. Unique collection of 36 items from the author. Includes: two TLSs, no date, one signed “Homer Croy” and the other “H.C.” One reads in part: “I learned from a waterfront character that you wanted my autograph, and I am sending it to you at the regular price. Do not send stamps. I have heard much about you; and some has been favorable. But I have not checked up…Homer Croy, Despoiler of Virgins, Traducer of Widows, Molester of Children”; eight postcards each signed “H.C.”; a brief ANS signed “H.C.”; and 25 typed envelopes or postcards, unsigned, but most with a humorous comment about the addressee including “The Harry Sinclair Drago Home for Aged Call Girls,” “Behind the Opium Den,” and “His Office Is Near the Ladies Rest Room.” In overall very good condition.
