Hollywood Celebrities' Doorways Series {Bob Hope} by Eulabee Dix
Eulabee Dix (1878-1961) an artist most notably famous for her portraits on Miniatures moved to California for approximately 4 years in the late 1930's. During this time she painted a series of Hollywood Celebrities' Doorways. In 1940 Ms. Dix held an Exhibit at the Allotria Club in Los Angeles titled "Doorways of Famous Homes." In 1945, after her return to New York, she held a second "Doorways of Famous Homes" Exhibit at a new studio located at 1690 3rd Avenue. After her death in 1961 the paintings were hung in the Southbury Playhouse in Southbury, CT from 1962 through its closing in the 1980's. They were then stored until being donated to the Hollywood Entertainment Museum. Painting Dimensions 10" L x 12" H, Framed Dimensions 18 5/8" L x 21 1/8" H. Picture is in good condition, slight chip in paint on right side, center due to nail scratch. Frame has slight scratches.
