Giacomin started his professional career with moments inEastern Hockey League's legendary Clinton Comets in 1958-59 and 1959-60. Hadserious burns in a kitchen accident, it is noted was roster of the Providence Reds in the 1960–61 season. In the Original Six days of the 1960s, with only six starting goaltending jobs in the NHL, positions were hard to obtain, thenGiacomin starred for the Reds for five full seasons.

Edward Giacomin, soit Ed ou Eddie Giacomin, connu étant un joueur professionnel de hockey sur glace qui évoluait au poste de gardien de but ; évoluait avec les Rangers de New York de 1965 à 1976 avant de terminer sa carrière avec les Red Wings de Détroit en 1978. Avant de jouer dans la LNH, il était dans la Ligue américaine de hockey aux Reds de Providence. Ed Giacomin est intronisé au temple de la renommée du hockey en 1987.
