<B>Hoboken, NJ</B></I> - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 470 <B>The Second NB</B></I> Ch. # 3744<BR>This piece and the note which accompanies it below were consigned by the great great grandson of William Machold, who signed both notes as vice president. Machold was a German immigrant who moved to Hoboken in 1859, prospered in business, and became manager and director of the Hoboken Bank for Savings. While continuing to serve in that position, he was elected vice president of the Second National Bank in 1888. He died in 1905. This attractive Brown Back is trimmed into the design at the top, but has retained its full selvage on the bottom. <B>Extremely Fine.</B></I>
