WILSON, ARTHUR. The History of Great Britain, Being the Life and Reign of King James The First, Relating to what passed from his first Accesse to the Crown till his Death. London: Richard Lownds, 1653. 4to (10 3/4" x 8 1/2"). Brown leather, blindstamped blocked covers, raised bands and black leather label to spine. Frontispiece engraving of King James. There is a label on the back of the front board with "The Earl of Westmoreland, 1856" handwritten (and the recent owner's plate below). The binding is in Poor condition; the cover is fully detached and very worn/scratched; the back cover with a bent lower corner. Spine leather is worn and cracked with losses, signature showing at the bottom. Overall pages are Good, with toning and light spotting/soiling, except the frontispiece and title page, which are considerably more toned at perimeters, with edge tears and wrinkling, and old inked marks on the frontispiece. The pages of the table at back are also very toned and stained. Flyleaf pages seem to be missing.
