Historically-significant deluxe velvet-lined display cased Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver, finely and extensively engraved in the hand of L.D. Nimschke in our opinion, having belonged to noted geologist andexplorer William H. Brewer, .36 cal., 7-1/2” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish with traces of gold wash on the rammer and approx. 80% original silver plating to the trigger guard and taffy colored patina tobrass back strap; finely raised carved snake and eagle ivory grips, #165225. The gun is in overall very good condition showing traces of original blue in protected areas, traces of original gold wash on the rammer, approx.97% original cylinder scene, very good bore, crisp action, sharp markings and classic Nimschke engraving on the frame, barrel, rammer, hammer, backstrap and trigger guard; the grips are outstandingly accomplished, showing aging, wear and some age cracking on the butt areas but overall very good; accompanied by a carved leather period California Slim Jim holster, belt with engraved silver buckle and mountings, brass
