Little Brown Jug by Anna Pottery advertising "Brachman & Massard of CINCINATTI, Ohio. The jug is incised "Little Brown Jug/from/
Brachman & Massard/Wines & Liquors/81W 3rd St Cin. O. The base of the jug has a reference to the eight to seven vote of the Hayes. Tillman Presidential election which was similar to the Bush Gore Presidential election of 2000 the vote was basically a tie. To make the decision of who would be president a faction of five House of Representative members, five Senators and five Supreme Court Members would vote and determine that Rutherford B. Hayes would become the next President of the United States by a vote of 8 to 7. The jug is bottom marked "Kirk Anna, ILL". The brown Albany slip glaze jug features a strap applied handle and a ribbed spout and a small rib at the base. H 5 1/4", W 4", D 4". There are also Anna Pig Flasks known with this advertizing. Kirk Patrick's parents came from Ohio and had close ties there both politically and financial. An extraordinary piece of history!
