Historic Smith & Wesson Model No. 3 Schofield First Model single action revolver, .45 cal., 7” barrel, blue finish, wood grips, #2362. This gun is accompanied by an April 5, 1940 letter to Stanley Morton of LosAngeles, California from a Robert K. Kien of Van Nuys, California stating “On this day I Transfer to you the pistol I have obtain(ed) from the Wallace Olinger Estate. One Smith & Wesson Schofield model of the U.S. Army in45 caliber serial number 2362. This pistol was used by Wallace Olinger during the Lincoln County War. He was given the pistol by his wife Camellia who was married to W.H. Johnson who used the pistol until his deathat the hands of Hugh Beckwith in Augurst 17, 1878”. Additional summary information states the revolver was owned and used by W.H. Johnson, Deputy Sheriff, Lincoln County, New Mexico whileserving under William Brady; Johnson was killed on August 17, 1878 by his father-in-law Hugh Beckwith.
