Historic Richards-Mason conversion of a Colt Model 1851 percussion revolver, .38 centerfire, 7-1/2” octagon barrel, nickel finish, wood grips, backstrap period inscribed “George A. Beers” and on the buttstrap “San Francisco”, wood grips, #2308. This gun is in overall fine to excellent condition showing approx. 90% nickel finish, fine bore, crisp action, sharp markings, iron straps, ’71-’72 patent dates, made as acartridge arm about 1872-1873, fine cylinder scene, fine grips; in our opinion, absolutely authentic period inscriptions; all matching visible serial numbers except the wedge that is un-numbered, traces of case colors on thehammer with traces of blue finish on most of the screw heads. George A. Beers was a newspaper correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle. He was a member of the posse that captured notorious California bandit,Tiburcio Vasquez at the canyon ranch of Georgias Caralambo (“Greek George”) outside Los Angeles on May 14, 1874.
