Maker: John Slaughter (1841 - 1922), elected sheriff of Cochise Co., Arizona Territory in 1886 (5 years after the OK Corral shootout). Approx. Age: Dated 1887. Size: Shadowbox is 12” x 16”. Condition: Good for its age. Additional Info: RARE! A historical document giving a deputies commission, from one historical AZ Territorial figure, to another. Written in ink with a quill pen. The letter is to E.R. Monk (a former judge and county official). Included in the shadowbox is info. on Slaughter and a copy of a photo of John Slaughter. This letter would have been Slaughter’s copy.
