Historic Jade Cabochon
HISTORIC JADE CABOCHON
New Zealand
Also from the historic Clarence Bement Collection of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), is this round cabochon of jade. The nephrite jade is from New Zealand, which is even more unusual now. When this stone was cut more than a century ago; the nephrite deposits of British Columbia and Wyoming had yet to be discovered, so the paltry amount contributed by New Zealand deposits was a relatively greater percentage of the total at that time. It is rarer now. This dark, apple-green cabochon; has a moderate dome, good polish and some translucency. It bears an AMNH Bement Collection number of 10114 on the back and #257 from the collection of Lawrence H. Conklin of New York City. It measures 30mm in diameter.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
