Manufactured in 1910 this is a Third Model carbine with dust cover rail integrally machined as part of receiver. Blade and ladder sights with full length magazine and saddle ring. Two line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight, "38 W.C.F." at the breech and factory proof on top of barrel and receiver. Upper tang has the three line model/trade mark information. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with trapdoor buttplate. Included is a notarized letter from W.G. Chapman that lists this carbine by serial number as once belonging to Chapman's father, George W. Chapman. George W. Chapman was a Texas Ranger in Company A in Alice, Texas, from September 1, 1917 to October 11, 1917 and in Company C in Laredo, Texas, from March 20, 1920 to February 22, 1921. Also included are copies of official records confirming that George Chapman was a Texas Ranger.

Condition: Fair. The carbine has a mottled gray patina with some very scattered mild pitting. The wood is fair with a number of pressure dents and a minor chip missing from forearm. Mechanically fine.
