Historic Documented Browning High Power Presentation Pistol Belonging to Iraqi General Hussein Kamal and Engraved by Ken Hurst with Provenance

This is a unique historical Iraqi General Presentation Browning High Power pistol, which was also fully engraved by the well known Master Engraver Ken Hurst. This pistol is accompanied by several signed documents attesting to the historical background of this fabulous pistol. It was originally made by the FN Herstal factory in Belgium in late 1980 and sold in April 1981 by their US distributor Browning Arms Morgan, Utah to a representative of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, through Udisco, Salt Lake City, Utah. The Saudi Official had it shipped directly to Ken Hurst in North Carolina where he fully engraved it with a floral pattern that covers 98% of the metal surface with a heavy punch-dot back ground. He also personally engraved the name "Hussein Kamal" on the back grip strap. Mr. Hurst stamped his name "K. HURST" on the lower right side of the frame under the grip panel. The assumption is that the pistol was then presented by the Royal Saudi Family to then General Hussein Kamal al-Majid, son in law to President Saddam Hussein (married to Raghad Hussein). The General was a very significant individual, as he was head of their Nuclear, Chemical and Biological weapons program from 1987 to 1994. He along with his brother, Lt Col. Hussein Saddam Kamel Hassan al-Majid (and their wives, both daughters to Saddam Hussein) defected to Jordan in August 1995 with crates of secret documents on the Chemical weapons factory in Iraqi. However in Jan 1996 both brothers and their wives returned to Iraq under the guise that the Government had reformed, and upon their return both wives divorced them and both brothers were later shot in a gun battle with their own family who said the family had been disgraced. Obviously this pistol stayed in Iraq until it was later captured by a group of Iraqi insurgents during the aftermath of the fall of the Iraqi Government. The pistol was eventually obtained by the CIA in Iraq during the post Iraq invasion where it sent to the CIA headquarters in the U.S. and was later acquired (Nov 2009) as an honorarium by the former senior CIA officer in Baghdad, Iraq. Along with this pistol are a written/signed Affidavit of Provenance from the former CIA Station Chief, who acquired this pistol outlining his 29 years of service and various tours of duty through out the world, along with his accomplishments and awards. A Browning Arms factory letter, dated Jan 2013, listing when it was manufactured, a complete and with two other affidavits detailing when it was acquiring by the CIA with the eventual deacquisition from the CIA and transfer from the CIA to the CIA Station Chief.

The grips are also excellent with nice sharp detailed checkering on both sides and only minor handling marks. A beautiful and very historic pistol acquired during one of the most difficult times in recent American History.
