Historic Colt SAA revolver with provenance to Colonel Gilbert Procter, soldier, rancher, author, historian and civic leader, .38-40 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, fancily period Mexican engraved and etched, blue and gold washfinish, ivory grips, #215538 and accompanied by a tooled single loop leather holster and cartridge money belt with backskirt of holster decorated with nickeled brass “buttons”. Documentation includes newsarticles, testimonials and a copy of a factory letter indicates gun was originally equipped with a 5-1/2” barrel, blue finish, type of stocks “not listed”, shipped to Copper Queen Consoldiated Mining Co., BisbeeTerritory of Arizona on Sept. 30, 1901, five of the same type guns in shipment. This gun is in overall very good to fine condition as period deluxe western saddle shop style engraved and etched including the backstrapthat is inscribed “Gil Procter”; also including a bear on the loading gate and an elk on the recoil shield; fair bore, crisp action, all matching visible serial numbers, approx. 70% old re-blue from time of
