Historic Colt SAA revolver, .45 cal., 4-3/4” barrel, nickel finish, raised carved eagle pearl grips, #304790 with notarized letter dated May 12, 1998 signed by Dan Rose of Phoenix, Arizona stating “Joe Olney acquired.45 caliber Colt Single Action pistol, serial #304790, sometime in 1912 or 1913 from John Turner’s Mercantile Store in Santa Rita, New Mexico. He was very fond of the eagle motif pearl handles, as he called them, but wassomewhat disappointed in the fact that the nickel plating was of poor quality. He used the Colt .45 and an A.D. Seitzler holster during his law enforcement days in Silver City and the County of Grants”. The gun isin overall very good to fine condition showing approx. 20% original nickel finish with the balance gone to a pleasing grey patina, crisp action, sharp markings, all matching visible serial numbers, good bore,outstanding thick iridescent pearl grips with raised carving of a swooping eagle and a very slight old repair to the front left toe.
