The lock is marked with the crown behind the hammer and "1863 / TOWER" ahead of the hammer. The left rear of the barrel is marked with four British proofmarks and the number "25" twice, upside-down. The top of the stock wrist is stamped with 15 stars scattered around "FRANK - FISHER / BATTLEBORO / VERMONT / 1881". The right rear of the stock has a Birmingham Small Arms Trade cartouche and the left flat is marked "H.O". The comb of the stock directly ahead of the tang is marked with two Confederate "anchor/S" marks. These marks were most commonly found on the mid to late 1863 and 1864 dated Tower locks. These guns were imported during the Civil War and ran through the blockade to the South. Blade front a two folding, one fixed leaf rear sight, brass trigger guard, saddle ring bar on the left stock flat, ring absent, steel large button head ramrod mounted on a steel swivel at the muzzle and mounted with a full walnut stock.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a dark brown mottled patina with some scattered minor spotting and moderate flash pitting on the breech end of the barrel. The trigger guard has a very dark untouched natural aged patina. The stock is good with a few small minor gouges and overall minor dents, dings and scratches associated with a gun of this age. The stock flats remain sharp. The stock and metal markings are clear. The action is very good.
