Property being sold is not new! Dents, dings, scratches and other damage may be present—and is common—on used and vintage items. Items are available for preview well in advance of the auction and we take several pictures as well. Please inspect thoroughly PRIOR to bidding. Once auctioneer says “SOLD” Buyer assumes all responsibility for items.
Maker: Marked, Tower. Approx. Age: Circa Revolutionary War era. Size: Approx. .70 Cal. with a 42” barrel. Condition: Relic. For display. Tamping rod is not original. Wood has a nice patina for its age, but iron parts all have a slightly rusty finish. Additional Info: Flintlock rifle by Tower, AKA The Brown Bess. Comes with an article that appeared in “The Gun Report” 1967, which talks about a Brown Bess marked like this one, and also a home made rack for display. Marked, Tower and GR and a Crown on the lock area. Has a proof mark of G on the barrel. This rifle seems to function mechanically and may fire, however we are selling it as an antique collectors item and not warranted safe to shoot. No FFL paperwork required on this antique gun which was made pre-1898. We will only ship this item to the United States and only where it is legal to do so. Please know your local/state laws before buying. Please look closely at the pictures - they are an important part of our description. Shipping: There will be a $5 handling / packaging fee for shipping this lot. The actual cost of postage will be added on top of that.
