Manufactured circa 1860-1865. Dovetail German silver blade front and frame groove rear sights, with the two line address and patent dates on the left side of the barrel. Equipped with a camming loading lever/trigger guard, and a roll engraved cylinder scene. Smooth 2-piece grips, with the left grip inscribed "H.M.Cist./Comp A.I.G.C./6th Regt/OVM". Henry Martyn Cist, a lawyer by trade, enlisted for 3-months of service in the 6th Ohio Volunteer Infantry as a private, receiving a Lieutenant's commission in the 52nd Ohio after that term, and later serving as Assistant Adjutant General under Rosecrans in the Army of the Cumberland. At war's end, he held a regular Army rank of Captain, and Brevet Brigadier General in the Volunteers. Post-War, Cist returned to his law practice, wrote the books "The Army of the Cumberland" and "The Life of General George H. Thomas", and served as director of the Chickamauga Memorial Association.

Condition: Fine, with 40% of the original blue finish, showing a smooth gray patina with hints of brown on the frame, a mixed brown patina on the barrel and cylinder, and scattered spotting and handling marks overall. The grips are very good, with mild edge wear and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
