United States senator and explorer who discovered Machu Picchu. Three one-page TLSs, all on United States Senate letterhead, two from 1932 and one from 1933. Two of the letters are to physician Joseph M. Flint, including one regarding the world economic crisis. In part: "Your friend, Otto Miller has sent me the editorials of Wulf's son-Staubli and copies…which I have read with the greatest interest…I firmly believe that business is based on credit and threat the chief cause of the depression at present is the demoralization of the credit mechanism. We are faced at the present time with extremely demoralizing tendencies.” In fine overall condition, with small pin holes to the upper left corner of two of the letters. Accompanied by several related captions and clippings.
