Highly customized and engraved Colt SAA revolver by legendary Master Engraver Howard Dove, .45 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, nickel finish, scrimshawed Colt medallion ivory grips, #5547AM. This fantastic piece of modern firearm artwork shows extensive scrolling, stippling, whimsical patterns and bordering on all parts of the gun including the hammer and straps; the gun is a D+ level of engraving in the Cuno Helfricht style and includes panel scenes on both sides of the lower frame of cowboy gunfighters with additional panels of a lawman with his Single Action drawn on the left back of the recoil shield, a Sheriff’s badge and Single Action revolver on the loading gate and a fleur d’ lis engraving on the lower front of the frame. The cylinder pin, cylinder pin release and screws of the gun are fire blued and the fine ivory grips show the scrimshawed reproduction of the famous Colt painting “Tex and Patches” showing a cowboy on his horse on the plains. An outstanding example of Dove’s work. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
