Highly collectible Colt Model 1911-A1 semi-auto pistol inscribed on right side of slide “Capt. E.G. Albers, Jr., Texas Rangers”, .45 cal., 5” barrel, blue finish, wood grips, #1334421. This gun shows an oldre-work and re-blue retaining the majority of that finish with some high point and holster wear; excellent bore, crisp action, good markings, custom smooth thick wood grips in very good condition and grip safety tied back for combat shooting. This gun was formerly in the famous Charlie Schreiner collection. Edwin G. Albers, Jr. was born and raised in Lee County, Texas. After military service, he joined the Pampa Police Department in1946; he went to the Texas Highway Patrol in 1949 and in 1961 he was appointed to the Texas Rangers and was initially assigned to Canyon; in 1968 he was promoted to Sgt. at Midland and on Nov. 1, 1969 became theCaptain of Co. F in Waco, Texas. Albers retired from the Texas Rangers on Aug. 31, 1974; he was known throughout his career as a no-nonsense lawman being involved with a number of high profile cases; he was the
