Manufacturer: Unknown Model: Flintlock Rifle
This elaborately embellished European flintlock rifle features a 41 inch round barrel with a heart shaped silver front sight with a sunburst engraved design around it. Forward of the rear sight, the top of the barrel is high relief chiseled with floral designs and there are geometric patterns around the muzzle. Six inches of the top of the barrel at the breech features deep relief chiseling in floral and patriotic designs with a punch dot background. The lock, hammer, trigger guard and finial also have the same deep relief chiseling floral patterns and the left side plate has, what appears to be a ribbon design. There are no visible maker's marking. The rifle is mounted with a full walnut stock with a geometrically engraved silver forend cap, iron buttplate with deep relief engraved tang, silver ramrod pipes, checkered wrist and carved running deer (front half) on the bottom of the stock as well as a carved floral design on the left rear of the stock. The rifle is complete with sling swivels and an iron ramrod with brass trumpet head tip. These hand chiseled flintlock rifles were much rarer than the engraved ones and it was a big upgrade in the quality of the piece.
