Highly Gilt Illuminated Islamic Arabic Koran Manuscript. Gold Illuminated Complete Large Size KORAN, 304 leaves (608 pages); size: 18.3 x 24.2 cm; 15 lines to a page, in large, clear, elegant and uniform naskhī script, in black ink, on beige paper. The text is vocalized throughout. There are two handsomely illuminated pages in gold and colors in the beginning and two gold illuminated pages at the end. All headings of sūras are marked by red lines. All verses are separated by gold discs. All pages are ruled in two red lines. The divisions of the Koran are marked with beautiful and colorful gilt medallions on the margins. There are tens of such divisions. The recitational marks are indicated in red throughout. The Koran ends in du`ā’ al-khatm (prayer for completing [the Koran]). It was copied by the master calligrapher al-Sayyid Muhammad al-Latīf, one of the students of Muhammad al-Shukrī. His calligraphy teacher was Ahmad al-Hifzī. He completed it during the Islamic year 1284, corresponding to 1867 AD. Full contemporary moroccan binding, with flab in the traditional Islamic bookbinding, embossed in arabesque design, a small part of the lower left-hand corner is missing, minor smudges, otherwise an excellent Koran.
