***Auction Highlight*** 1889-cc Vam 2 R-5 Morgan Dollar $1 Graded Select Unc+ DMPL By USCG. Up for Auction is the Absolute Highlight of the Entire Auction, possibly the year. Up for auction is the Legendary King of the Carson City Morgans, the 1889-cc in Uncirculated Deep Mirror Proof Like Condition. The 1889-CC Morgan dollar represents one of the two major keys to the series, along with the 1893-S. Most collectors would consider an example in problem-free Fine or Very Fine condition to represent a trophy coin. Few could fathom a coin of this magnitude in MS62+ Deep Mirror Proof like condition. The fields are beautifully mirrored, contrasting against the crisp, frosted devices. Chatter is relatively minor and average for the grade. As some background as to why the 1889-cc is so rare, The Carson City Mint was only used as an assay office and storage facility from 1886-1888, the mint was reactivated as a coinage facility in 1889. Unfortunately, necessary repairs to the building and machinery and replacement of key personnel prevented the start of coinage operations until October. Because of the abbreviated striking period, only 350,000 Morgan dollars were produced before the end of the year. The coins circulated heavily in the regional economy and few were saved by collectors or stored away in government vaults. When the GSA sales began in 1972, only one example of the 1889-CC was found in the government stockpile. As a result, the 1889-CC is the rarest Carson City Morgan dollar and one of the most sought-after keys to the series. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
