***Auction Highlight*** 1853-o No Arrows 'o' Above Bow Seated Liberty Half Dime 1/2 10c Graded Select Unc BY USCG. HIGHLIGHT OF THE ENTIRE AUCTION. Half dime specialists will be excited to see this piece appear at auction. The opportunity to bid on any Mint State example of this date seldom occurs. NGC and PCGS have only certified 10 Mint State submissions of the issue, including resubmissions. Probably only three or four Mint State examples survive, including this piece, the Pittman specimen, the Eliasberg coin, and one or two others. This piece exhibits nice luster and some light toning. The strike is bold, and even the bottom part of the date is fully visible. The port city of New Orleans had an unceasing need for coinage in the years leading up to the Civil War, and as a rule, the pieces produced there circulated rather than sitting in vaults. This makes a number of silver issues, particularly those struck before the weight adjustment of 1853, rarities in Mint State. The 1853-O No Arrows, the last of those issues, is among the most elusive, its mintage of 160,000 pieces having experienced considerable attrition. The present coin is a distinctly high-end survivor even taking the few grade limiting marks on the obverse into account. The coin at hand is likely one of only 5 surviving mint state examples. WOW. I wish you good luck in owning one of these surviving mint state 1853-o No Arrows Half Dimes. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away, you might not find its equal Coin. I give this coin my highest recommendation
