High quality silver-mounted miquelet musket for a young squire or child. The miquelet measures 35-5/8” overall with approx. 26” barrel of approx. .44-.45 caliber or about 11mm. The triggerguard, sideplates, bands,forend cap, and buttplate are all silver. The metal surfaces show a light grey patina with some pitting and erosion, generally good edges. The muzzle is nicely finished, the lock shows a very lightly engraved name thatis illegible. The trigger is nicely chiseled in the form of a monkey holding its ears. The gun is in its original flintlock configuration with proper small parts and screws. The triggerguard shows an indentedhallmark that is illegible. The stock is lightly refinished long ago and is at least very good with sharp edges. A very nicely made and scarce child’s arm, probably made for a royal personage. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
