He worked between 1845 to 1881, and we would date the rifle approx. 1860’s. The rifle measures 47-1/2” overall with 30-1/2” heavy octagonbarrel of approx. 34 caliber fully rifled. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable tang sight, adjustable rear sight, hooded target type front sight, double-set triggers, Swiss schutzen type butt. The rifle is nicelysigned on both lock and barrel and is marked “Good English Steel” in German. The stock is of select walnut with a very good grain. The barrel shows considerable original finish going to brown. The engraving is of goodquality and the lock mounts were bright finish, now gone to natural patina. An original to the period ramrod is retained. The bore is very good plus and may clean to excellent. Est: $2,000 - $4,000
