High quality custom stocked sporting rifle based on post-war commercial FN Mauser action and barrel in .30-06 cal. with Hensoldt scope on E Peter gunsmith signed mount in Wiesbaden. The rifle shows a 24" barrel, is44" overall, with 3-leaf folding rear sight mounted on raised and engraved milled rib. The rifle is nicely stocked in European walnut with fancy checkering bordered in carved oak leaves. The stock is also inlaidwith ivory and hardwood diamonds with ivory forend cap and pistol grip cap. The floor plate and trigger guard are nicely engraved and silver inlaid in high relief showing great stag and doe. The initials WMC aresilver inlaid into the trigger guard. The bolt and follower are engine turned. The condition is very good+ to near fine, as refinished metal at time of sporterization. The action is tight, the bore is good butdirty and will clean. The cheek piece is on the right side for a left-handed shooter using a right hand bolt, but like most German guns it will work for either shooter. A quality rifle of the type made in the '40s
