High quality cast brass dagger in ancient armorial and Gothic scenes with silver plated finish signed on scabbard LeFaucheux, Paris and inscribed on the hilt Chef de battalion, Escat and dated 1879. The dagger measures 13¼ “ overall with 8” blade and the blade is reinforced for piercing and shows an armorer’s type mark and in good condition. The finest quality of this type dagger we have seen with an important mid-19th centuryFrench makers name and an interesting possibly re-searchable presentation to the Battalion chef who after all kept the troops moving and happy. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
