High quality and massive English percussion market hunting gun or fowling piece signed “Charles Jones, 26 St. James Street, London” with approximately 1” smoothbore. This gun measures 52 ½” overall with 36 ½” barrel and weighsapproximately 12 pounds. The condition is very good showing considerable original brown finish and striped pattern on the barrel which we would estimate as above 75% and strong traces of case hardening on the lock going to a silver gray. Thelock and tang are nicely engraved. The tang shows traces of original blue and is numbered 1605. The stock is a straight grain Walnut checkered at the wrist and remaining in very good condition with just normal aging and slight storage marks withnormal use. A correct to the period ramrod is included. The action works well and the overall condition is very good plus. The gun is balanced nicely and could be shot from the shoulder easily. Est.: $3750-$7500
