High quality Wesley Richards droplock double-barrel side by side 12ga shotgun with rounded frame and the removable floorplate feature this maker was noted for. The gun shows 30” barrels, blued and case hardened finish, single selective trigger, auto ejector, English style straight stock, gold inlayed maker’s name on both sides of frame. Serial number “9984”. The barrels show approx. 98-99% English quality restored finish with nitro proofs and marked for 1-1/4oz loads. The frame shows 50-60% case hardening drifting to silver with some areas of rainbow colors showing brightly. The top of the frame and forward release lever marked “Wesley Richard Patent One Trigger”. The trigger guard, removable plate and lever, show most of their restored blue finish. The stock has been nicely restored and lengthened slightly. The stock measures approx. 14-1/4” from the trigger to the end of the wood, now lengthened to slightly over 14-1/2”. Butt checkered with metal plates at top and bottom, blued to match and the restoration work on this gun of English quality, probably by Wesley Richards. The action and mechanics are excellent, and the bores are fine to excellent. Contained within a later luggage case showing late Wesley Richards label, also probably added at time of restoration. Old tag attached reads “Left barrel, .045 extra full, Right barrel, .023 Modified.” Est.: $7,000 - $12,000.
