High quality Mexican late 19th to early 20th century Bowie knife showing beautifully engraved blade which reads on left side “ALOMAS NO SE HAGAN VOLA QUE HAY LES VA SU GAVILAN/G.M. OAXACA” and right side ”MADE INMEXICO/ FOR F. MEDINA/ S. EN G” and shows portrait of eagle with slogan “Honor y Gloria A Mi Patria”. The blade measures 11” with clip-point. Approx. 16” overall. Very thick iron sculptured guard and reinforced blade.The grip is of turned bone and shows brass pommel cap and ferrule with a deep patina. The condition is good to very good with some light to moderate pitting and some slight sharpening overall. A very good qualityMexican bowie knife, originally from the Charlie Schreiner collection and it has been in two other top Mexican collections in the last decade. Est: $900 - $1,800
