High quality Germanic hunting sword circa early to mid 19th century, showing heavy silver mounts in form of hunting dogs on stag with lion headed pommel, stag grip, faceted silver chain guard, etched and gilted blade, showing hunter, dogs, and boar. Signed “Buvch” The sword measures 26-3/8” overall with 20-5/8” blade. The blade measures 7/8” across widest part. The blade shows a blood groove and pointed tip. Blood groove extends 10-1/4” from the point to the center portion of the blade. The blade is in good condition with some light to moderate pitting and erosion, 30-50% gold gilt, its full original configuration, just some slight sharpening. No scabbard. Mounts fairly crisp showing good detail and not rubbed out. Silver hilts on German swords are generally .800 to .900 fine silver. Est: $750 - $1,500
