The blade measures 33", the sword measures 36" overall and shows a genuineivory grip wrapped with a single strand of silver wire. The hilt is heavy cast coin silver, and shows a Maximilian type Mexican snake and eagle supporting the Hapsburg crown. The blade shows a clipped point andis nicely etched with florals and stand of arms, shows no makers mark. The blade is good with some erosion and pinprick pitting, but most of its original polish and about 50% etching. The ivory grip shows deep yellowpatina, small losses, slight smoothing, normal aging. The scabbard shows a deep brown, a couple of dents, and the silver overlaid plaque of Mexican snake and eagle shows no crown, indicating the period afterMaximilian.
