High quality 18 carat gold pocket watch by Elgin, presented by Buffalo Bill Cody showing fancy initials “W.F.C.” intertwined on front of case and reverse of case beautifully engraved with a portrait of Buffalo and nameBill surrounded by engraved landscape of the West. The dust cover is beautifully engraved in period script “Hon. W.F. Cody, to, Josh E. Ogdon, New Orleans, Dec 22d, 1879” in six lines. The case is marked warranted 18 carat fine, serial #20533. The movement is marked Elgin Nat’l watch co. Serial no. 600198. The condition is fine to excellent showing just minor carry and use. Josh E. Ogdon was Buffalo Bill’s booking agent whowas instrumental in Cody becoming the highest paid performer of his time. The engraving and inscription are absolutely genuine. Est; $15,000-$30,000
