High-grade over/under double rifle by Marholdt of Innsbruck, Austria in 7x57 Mauser caliber. Serial #18786. The rifle shows 23-5/8” barrels, nicely game-scene engraved with stag and doe and satin grey finish. Thetriggerguard is nicely blued to match the barrels and show the Stag with the “M” initial over it, which is Marholdt’s trademark. The gun is stocked in typical Furloch styling with elaborate cheek piece,nicely checkered, European sling swivels, adjustable triggers for both barrels, standard extractors, full raised rib that is hand filed with iron rear sight and claw mounts. The rifle retains a nickel variablescope of the same vintage on claw-mounts fitted to this rifle and probably originally supplied with it. The barrels show 90-95% blue thinning at the edges, showing some slight oxidation that may clean. The boresare excellent and the rifles have seen just slight use. The stocks show some normal age, some minor dents and mars, and retain the original pistol grip cap and buttplate. The rifle weights approx. 9.4lbs. The checkering
