High grade Belgian hand-detachable sidelock sporting shotgun by Aug. Lebeau Courally of Liege Belgium, serial #39984. The gun is in 12ga, choked Modified (right) and Improved Cylinder (left), with 28” barrels. Double triggers, auto ejectors, streamlined pistol grip, select checkered walnut stock. The frame is nicely engraved in florals and fine scrolls with chiseled fences on action and border engraving around breech and barrel. The stock shows a select grain with good checkering and the trigger guard is floral engraved. Barrels retain 97-99% original blue with some small areas of storage rust that will clean. The gun remains in original fine to near excellent condition with 98-99% original blue on frame. French grey receiver shows just slight toning and dried oil, the triggerguard shows 95% blue with some slight drifting to patina. The stocks are satin finished and are fine to near excellent showing just a little use. The stock measures 13-3/4” to the end of the wood, 14-5/8” to the end of the hard-rubber recoil pad. The gun shows full length chambers, postwar Belgian proofs, and van’t horn steel stamps on bottom. This maker is highly regarded in Europe and by American connoisseurs, though not
