High art double-barrel pinfire signed in gold “J. Springer” in Wien on barrel. The gun is in 16ga smoothbore with 29-7/8” barrels, 45-5/8” overall. Fully and finely high-relief engraved chiseled and etched with highrelief gold inlay and accents. The barrels are nicely patterned in a false Damascus and show etching and gold inlay at rear of rib around maker’s name, and fancy geometric gold bands at breech. The hammers, tangs, andlockplates are deeply chiseled and engraved with gold borders and accents. The bottom of frame and lever are also finely relief and chisel engraved in scroll with portrait of a ‘mean old buzzard’ surrounded by goldborders. The triggerguard is chiseled en suite with snake battling lion. The triggerguard is beautifully carved horn. The buttplate is fully high-relief engraved and etched and shows “2333” on trap-door in buttwhich was made for two 16ga pinfire shells. The tang is mounted with a beautiful flip-up sight as to be utilized with slugs. The stock is select burl walnut, fancy checkered and carved in floral motifs. The gun shows
