High Sierra (Warner Brothers, 1941). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Okay, the hype is not overstated when we say that this is truly a legendary poster! Fate took a hand when Paul Muni walked away from the part and George Raft did as well. Humphrey Bogart was cast as the gangster, Mad Dog Earle, and the rest, as they say, is cinematic history. John Huston co-wrote the script based on W.R. Burnett's book about an aging gangster on the run from the law. Bogart played the part with gusto and with a sympathetic side that audiences had never seen in him before. It solidified Bogart as a major star on the Warner's lot and the actor would never have to go back to second billing again. The borders have been airbrushed and the title has been airbrushed in the white of the letters. There were many tears in the image including some in Bogart's face, hand and Ida Lupino's dress, etc. Very Good+ on Linen.
