High Relief Lincoln Rail Splitter Medal; 38mm. High Relief Lincoln Rail Splitter Medal
High Relief Lincoln Rail Splitter Medal 38mm. Sullivan-DeWitt AL-1860-10 in silvered white metal. This finely executed medal depicts a rugged looking Lincoln with a large shock of hair on the obverse. He is shown splitting rails on the reverse. The old homestead is shown on the right and the White House on the left. It is inscribed "Progress 1830." Lincoln moved from Indiana to Illinois in that year. This illustrates not only Lincoln's career, but his deep felt belief that each man should have an "even chance in the race of life" to develop his potential to the fullest. Condition is very nice with some areas of bluish-green toning, especially on the obverse.
