High Noon Fred Zinneman Signed Original Lobby Card
High Noon Fred Zinnemann Signed Original Lobby Card Truly one of the all-time great films ever made (and recently ranked by the American Film Institute as the #2 greatest Western ever produced), "High Noon" (1952) changed the course of both filmmaking and westerns forever. The film was intended as an allegory in Hollywood for the failure of some of Hollywood's top players to stand up to the House Un-American Activities Committee during the horrific nightmare of the Joe McCarthy Red-baiting witch hunts. Ironically, it was favored for the Best Picture Oscar, but just as in the film's story, most in Hollywood chickened out, and gave the Oscar to the out-dated and ridiculous "Greatest Show On Earth", bending to the power of reactionary McCarthy supporter, and "Greatest Show On Earth" director Cecil B. DeMille. However it did win four other Oscars including star Gary Cooper for best actor, as well as composer Dimitri Tiomkin for his score and iconic theme song, "Do Not Forsake Me". The great outcome is that "High Noon" has continued to be one of the most beloved and respected films of all time, whereas "Greatest Show On Earth" has disappeared into oblivion. An interesting side note is that the film is virtually shot in "real time". This is an original Lobby Card of this classic motion picture. It is signed by its truly legendary director, Fred Zinnemann, a rare autograph indeed! Lobby Card is 14"x11".
