Manufactured from 1861 to 1874. The top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS.", the cylinder is marked with the 1855, 59 and 60 patent dates, the serial number is marked on the butt and inside of the right grip panel, and the assembly number "120" is marked on the barrel heel of the frame under the grip and cylinder. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger, blade front and notch rear sights, and fitted with smooth varnished rosewood grips.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel and frame retain 60% original blue finish with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. The cylinder has a smooth brown patina. The hammer and trigger have a smooth gray patina with flashes of original case colors on the hammer. The grips are excellent with 95% original finish remaining, some lower edge wear and a few scattered minor dents and scratches. The barrel has a little play in it and the screw is marred. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
