Hessler X126B $100 Act of March 2, 1861 Treasury
Hessler X126B $100 Act of March 2, 1861 Treasury Note Proof Choice New, PC. Natural paper wave is noticed on this attractive uniface proof that carries plate letter A and two punch cancels along the signature lines. This proof has a colorful red overprint, and it also has the trademark Vattemare rim mounting. Despite a circulated grade given to this proof in the John J. Ford sale, we do not see any signs of handling outside of a small adhesive spot in the back upper left-hand corner. This is the plate note in the Hessler reference, where it has been assigned a rarity rating of R-8, 1 - 3 known. Also, in the Ford catalog, it is defined as in all likelihood unique. This is another important note in this collection that combines rarity and condition.
