Hessler 1144 $100 1861 Interest Bearing Treasury Note F
Hessler 1144 $100 1861 Interest Bearing Treasury Note Face Proof Choice New, PC. This ABNCo green and black face design, plate letter C proof is printed on India paper. Each of the five coupons have two small punch cancels, while nine small punch cancels are found along the signature lines. Natural paper wave is noticed and the only handling detected is an approximate quarter inch right edge tear on the first coupon. With India paper being so thin, an edge blemish like this can easily occur. This rare proof has a portrait of General Winfield Scott. Only a few proofs of this Hessler number are documented with auction records being even sketchier. This proof resembles the extremely rare issued notes of Fr. 212a and Fr. 212e, but there are many differences. With these Friedberg numbers being so rare, the prudent collector may decide to cover those numbers with this proof.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
