Signed and inscribed on the first free end page, "To Mr. and Mrs. Ken Browne, The good wishes of Herbert Hoover." Also signed and inscribed on the half-title page by the author and artist, Ding Darling, "To the Ken Brownes, with warm appreciation of friendship and kindred association over many years to you and all those who like Hoover hold high respect for the responsibilities of good citizenship in practice as well as idealism. Sincerely, Jay Darling, 'Ding.'" The introduction is signed by its presenter, W. W. Waymack, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor of the Des Moines Register and tribune. The reverse of last free end page in book features a letter of provenance from the original recipient: "Herbert Hoover autographed this interesting book just 30 minutes after we purchased it at the Waldorf-Astoria Bookshop in New York City. Mr. Hoover received us in his Waldorf-Astoria Towers suite—Sept. 12, 1957…Autographed by 'Ding Darling and W. W. Waymack in October 1957—Iowa." In fine condition.
