Herbert Hoover Signs his assault on Franklin D. Roosevelt in his book American Ideals versus The New Ideal Thirty-first President (1929-1933). Hoover gained international attention during WWI with his distribution of food and supplies to Europe, and was later appointed Secretary of Commerce. As President, he saw the Stock Market Crash and the Great Depression. Preaching an unsuccessful philosophy of "rugged individualism", he was soundly defeated by Roosevelt in 1932. He retired from public life until he named chairman of a commission created to re-organize the executive branch.

The book consists of a series of nine addresses upon pressing National problems. Published by Scribner Press, 2nd printing. 89pp. Undated, but appears to be a 1936 campaign book. Very fine overall fit, signed boldly in black ink on the front cover by Hoover (some smearing of the ink on his last name).
